These are the policies and procedures for the "Tarpon
House".
We ask that you relax and enjoy your stay. We hope that the home meets
your expectations. Keep in mind that the home is a simple beach cottage. It’s
one of the original homes on the island. It’s clean and cozy. There have
been many upgrades and we continue to renovate yearly. There are no refunds if
the home is not what you expected. The photos of the internet gives you an idea
of what the home looks like.
Thank you for renting the Tarpon House
. We appreciate you stay! We are a rental by owner and because of that we are
able to eliminate some of the property management cost. All we ask is that you
be patient with any unexpected household emergency. We will try our best to
respond quickly.
Emergency/Contact information
In case of a medical emergency call 911. For all other household emergencies
call 1-850-424-5644, cell phone 757-618-5851 or cell phone 757-618-5850. The
salt in the air may cause unexpected mechanical failures. We are unable to
guarantee appliances and air conditioning/heating, but we will promptly attend
to repairs upon notice of a problem. Air conditioner was replaced 2009
Directions
The home is located on 103 E. Tarpon. Off the causeway (bridge) turn left on
South Padre Blvd. Drive approximately 1 mile and turn right on Tarpon.

Entrance/contact number
There are 2 lock boxes to the left of th main door entrance. The lock box for
you is the one that has the punch button. The code is _given upon full payment_.
If there are any problems opening the lock box you may call me at 850-424-5644.
If we do not respond within 10 minutes you may call the SPI AAA locksmith at
761-7455. The locksmith will determine if it was a mechanical problem in which
we will pay for the service. If not, then a $30.00 fee will be charged directly
to you. Please keep lockbox door shut and do not press the reset button. If
combination is reset there will be a 50.00 fee.
Make sure to return the key back to the lock box upon you departure or a $50.00
fee will apply.
Air Conditioner Keep doors closed unless the A/C unit is not on. Trying to avoid
the 500.00 electric bill. Under extreme Texas heat the Air Conditioner may take
longer to cool the home. Just keep doors closed
Press mode to move unit from cool, heat and off. Keep fan off. To move
temperature press the up or down arrows.
What to Bring
Beach chairs, beach towels, toilet paper, trash bags, hand/body soap, dishwasher
soap, dish liquid, all purpose cleaner.
Guest towels are not to be used on the beach. Damage to towels are $10.00 each
.
Basic Linens are provided. This is complementary. The home is not a hotel you
may find sheets that are damaged. This is only because the cleaning service did
not see the imperfection. If you are picky regarding sheets... bring your own. I
assure you the sheets we supply are washed and clean.
Smoking No smoking allowed in the house. Please smoke outside.
BBQ
Due to problems with rust and theft we will no longer provide BBQ grill. No open
flames permitted on the decks or inside or underneath the house. BBQ is allowed
only in the approved areas. Approximately 10 feet from the home. Make sure there
is open space above flame. Keep things safe. Occasionally, renters purchase BBQ
pits and leave behind.
Garbage- trash is picked up at 7am every Monday and Thursday. Place all garbage
cans at the curbside Sunday and Wednesday.
- Do not move garbage bins. They need to be kept at the front on the house.
Owners closet
- Please do not try to open a $30.00 fee will apply.
Garbage disposal. The home does not have a garbage disposal. So please
keep food scraps in trash
Shed- the key is located in the kitchen closet hanging on a nail. Make sure to
put the key back. 50.00 replacement fee. Upon your departure lock the door.
Place all beach chairs, lawn chairs, BBQ pits, toys neatly in shed for next
guest. Washer and dryer are not part of the rental agreement. However, you may
wash, but the dryer is out of order. There is a laundry mat down the street.
Internet the home is set up for internet and wi fi . If there are any problems
with this please call me.
Furniture Do not sit on sofa arm rest! They are already loose. Always keep table
cloth over the table. Keeps the table from future damage, keep stove and
refrigerator as far as possible. Refrigerator has signs of heat damage. Keep all
remote control on top of T.V. Master T.V. has a glitch. See the note located on
the T.V.
Please do not move TV/ furniture around. If you feel you need to move something
to prevent it from damage put in closet, but make sure to put it back.
Theft please do not take/steal anything. Cleaning service takes inventory and
will charge your deposit to replace. The top bunks do not have a railing. Please
keep young children off to prevent accidents.
Cleaning service fee of 75.00 includes: wash linens and towels, clean bathrooms,
dust, wipe down kitchen counter tops and appliances, sweep and mop floors,
unload clean dishwasher. Please do your share of picking up. They will charge an
additional fee for additional cleaning. If there is anything broken or missing
items please make a note to the cleaning service. They may be able to replenish
or fix.
Departure
1. Load dishwasher and wash.
2. Empty refrigerator. Any unopened items may be left or items you feel someone
can use will be donated to homeless shelter/ needy family.
3. If you stain the comforter, rug, sofa please wipe down or wash. Cleaning
service may charge additional for extra washing. Children sometimes have
accidents. Please wash mattress pad. Careful with drying they tend to melt.
4. Lock all doors and windows
5. Set A/C to 78 degrees
6. Put all BBQ pits, beach chairs and lawn chairs in shed. Make sure back yard
and underneath home are free from trash. Cleaning service may charge extra.
7. Pick up after your pets. Please do not throw waste in yard (cat litter)
Place in trash bag and into the trash can.
8. Empty kitchen and bathroom trash into outside trash can.
9. Return the key back to the lock box upon your departure a 50.00 fee
10. Return shed key back to kitchen closet and place on the nail. 50.00 fee
11. Return the remote controls to the top of the T.V. 50.00 fee
12.DO NOT REMOVE SHEET FROM BED. LEAVE BEDS UNDONE .
Refunds
No refunds for early departure. No refunds due to poor weather conditions.
Refunds will be provided if there is a mandatory evacuation.
Security Deposit
Upon inspection for damages/missing items security deposit will be refunded
within 15 days of departure.
